To start off, Shaderlight is a paid rendering program. Here are a couple images from Shaderlight’s website to give you an idea of what can be done by experts in photorealistic rendering. I do want to note, I do not consider myself an expert on creating renderings, but I’ve worked with them enough to be able to walk you through some of the basics. The deadline for entries into this contest is October 31st, so I figured now might be a good time to do a quick tutorial on using Shaderlight to create photorealistic renderings. The most popular rendering on their facebook page will be the winner. They are requesting that entries be emailed to them, then these entries will be uploaded to their facebook page. Right now, Shaderlight (one of the rendering softwares mentioned above) is holding a 3D rendering contest. I hope to do a post about each of these programs in the future. Basically, the way these programs work is by applying realistic materials to your 3D objects, then applying lighting to their materials to make them look realistic. Some of these can be downloaded for free, and some of them have to be purchased. There are many rendering programs for SketchUp, such as Lumion, Twilight Render, V-Ray, and Shaderlight (as well as many more). Rendering is using a computer program to create a realistic image of a 3D model. In this post, I want to talk about a photorealistic rendering plugin. One of the things that I want to do with the SketchUp Essentials is review and talk about different third party plugins that can make SketchUp more powerful. He continued, “After witnessing everyone coming together, networking, cutting deals and having fun along the way, I’ve never been more excited about the future of the promo products industry.” Andrews, president and CEO of the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI), which produces the show and is the largest membership organization and technology provider in the $23.2 billion promotional products industry. “We charged into a brand new year by delivering a fantastic show for suppliers and distributors eager to jump into action,” said Timothy M. So to re-open the question, looking for a reasonable answer (even if it is “NO”), "Will LibreOffice convert a PDF file to a fully editable Word file (or an fully editable Excel file)? Why would anyone want their paid version when their free, partial, conversion can’t even handle a few lines? If you want the program to convert the entire PDF to a Word file, then they require you to buy their paid version. A few that I have found that claim to be free and do so, only convert a few lines, not the entire PDF (and even that is done poorly). While there are a few FOSS programs that allow you to edit a few lines of a PDF, they do not handle conversion to a Word or Excel. In fact, the question header did not address a JPG, just in the body - added by the poster - probably as an afterthought! He ignored the more relevant part of the question - converting to a Word or Excel file. Do you want to be able to edit the text of the PDF after the conversion?Īs you can see, he never answered the question (other than to state there are programs that can convert to a JPG). Hi There are several programs that can convert a PDF to a (set of) JPEG image(s). For executing CI tasks and backing up the data, i have a few servers on my desk (though regular towers with passive cooling, instead of the rack mounted kind), since those are more cost effective, especially storage wise. Infrastructure wise, there are a few VPSes from a local provider ( affiliate link), though I've also used DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Scaleway and others in the past, AWS, GCP and Azure would work as well, though would be much more expensive. Gitea is an important part of this and overall I'm really glad that we have cool software like it nowadays!Īt the same time, I'm more than happy to use GitLab or something like it at work, as long as keeping it working nicely, up to date (and paying for the servers) is someone else's responsibility.Ĭurrently using Docker Swarm with bind mounts instead of volumes, because they're a bit easier to work with, backup-wise. In summary, even if there still are a few challenges here and there, the whole setup is a lovely way to self-host your own projects and everything around them in a cost effective manner and whilst also staying in control over your own data. Though I guess even Jenkins would also be a viable alternative (despite it having certain issues with plugin stability etc.), or many other CI tools, given that Gitea is actually decently supported! That said, I still find the UI of GitHub and GitLab to be a bit better than Gitea's (the whole organizations/groups navigation feels better), though Gitea is immeasurably more performant when compared to GitLab, especially when the available hardware resources are limited - in the case of 4 GB of RAM being all that I could afford, it's the difference between a really snappy and annoyingly laggy UI.Īdmittedly, now it's Nexus that loves eating my resources, though for the most part having software like it for managing most of my container images and other packages is pretty cool and worthwhile, though one might also want to explore the alternatives, such as Artifactory or something else.Īlso, personally I find Drone to be a bit less capable than GitLab CI and its documentation isn't quite as good in comparison - though that's a given, since it's an external tool developed by another company. I wrote about it in my blog post "Goodbye GitLab Hello Gitea, Nexus and Drone". I recently moved over from self-hosting GitLab to instead having Gitea, Nexus and Drone, because the burden of keeping GitLab up to date was cumbersome, given how it's such a large and complicated software package. By then installed as both skipper and sweeper, Beckenbauer won both the 1972 European Championship and the 1974 World Cup – the latter played in his home city at Munich’s Olympiastadion. Between 19, he won the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup four times each, and Bayern also won the European Cup three times in succession between 19 as well as the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1967. Whatever the origin, Beckenbauer’s nickname stuck in the late 1960s, and that, incidentally, is when both he and Bayern began to hit new heights. “If you play a proper pass, you’d get it back properly, without the need to run.” “That wall was the most honest teammate you could wish for,” he declared. Beckenbauer would gracefully move forward and casually ping passes to all corners of the pitch, later putting that skill down to having spent countless hours playing one-twos against the wall of his house. There are conflicting reports as to how he became known as the Kaiser, but his elegant playing style – often playing as a libero and leading attacks from the back – certainly helped. His West Germany side went down to a cruel extra-time defeat against England in the final at Wembley, but the then-midfielder was named in the team of the tournament and took the best young player prize after scoring four goals. Later that summer, Beckenbauer – still only 20 – was one of the stars of the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Beckenbauer scored the insurance goal in the final against Duisburg to claim his first piece of silverware. Bayern lost their first ever Bundesliga game 1-0 against 1860 in August 1965, but while their local rivals won the league title, the Reds lifted the DFB Cup. Later that year Bayern pipped 1860 to the signing of Gerd Müller, too, and promotion soon followed. forced the club to dispense with expensive stars and back players from their own youth team, as well as talented footballers from the Bavarian provinces,” the Bayern website says.Īmong those young players were goalkeeper Sepp Maier and Beckenbauer, who made his debut – and scored – in a 4-0 win over St. That choice, it turned out, was a blessing in disguise for Bayern. League authorities only wanted one Munich club to be part of the newly created top flight, and 1860 Munich got the ticket because they had won the 1962-1963 Oberliga Süd. While he began working his way up through the youth ranks, after all, Bayern missed out on a place in the Bundesliga in 1963. imago/WEREKīeckenbauer’s decision would change the course of German football, although we weren’t to know that at the time. Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier and Franz Beckenbauer (l.-r.) all joined Bayern Munich at around the same time before going on to make history for the Bavarian club and Germany. “It was just fate that we both came together, and that I became a Red and not a Blue,” Beckenbauer told Bayerischer Rundfunk, when the Bavarian radio station brought König and the Kaiser together again in 2010. It was seemingly after that incident that a 13-year-old Beckenbauer decided that he would join Bayern later that year, rather than 1860 as planned. The details of the match are sketchy, many decades on, but what is not in dispute is that at one point König aimed a slap at his opponent. The final of the U14 tournament was a keenly fought affair, and Beckenbauer – then playing as a centre-forward – was involved in a running battle with centre-half Gerhard König – whose surname means king in German. He was all set to do so as well, but first he faced them in the summer of 1958 while still playing for local side SC 1906. The son of a postal worker, Beckenbauer had grown up supporting 1860, and dreamed of playing for them. Use RDBM / LiveEditor to assign face. The man who would later be nicknamed der Kaiser – the emperor – grew up in Giesing, a working-class district home to mostly Blues rather than Reds.
